I owe my father partial credit for this exercise; we both developed the idea independently of one another. He did it, too: perhaps he will contribute his excellent example.
If I am articulate,
I can be a communicator.
If I can be a communicator,
I have two choices to make:
Will I or will I
Not be a communicator?
Will I or won’t I
Be a communicator?
I have two choices to make:
And if I can be a communicator
I will be a communicator,
Articulating if I am.

Bill tells Rosie
ReplyDeleteTheir relationship is cozy
Cozy is a word
She has not often heard.
Rosie then asks Tim
What cozy means for him.
Citing male bonding
Tim avoids responding
And suggests she turn to Thierry
For an answer to her query.
Thierry isn’t sure
Of what to say to her
He suggests a phone call
To a friend named John Paul
If he cannot explain
She then should try Romaine.
In fact she tried them all,
liked Thierry best of all
She liked the way they kissed her
But Bill had said he missed her
And so she went to see him
But first she stopped by Liam
Before she hurried back
She wanted one last snack.
But now that she is back,
Bill takes a different tack
And says he really missed her
but wanted her to list her
actions she had taken
for his confidence was shaken.
He saw the way she smiled
about the way she whiled
away the hours inquiring
in meetings long and tiring,
the meaning he inferred
when he used that word.
She said she understood,
And that she knew he would.
For in her every meeting
Both over - night and fleeting
She did her research well;
They all had tales to tell:
For Tim had been with Sharrie
And Thierry dated Carrie
John Paul had played with Candy
And Romaine lived with Sandy
And when they all were through
They slept with Billy too!
That was the moment when
That word was used again.
Bill wants to know above
all else how is their love?
Why Bill, responded Rosie
Our relationship is cozy.
Now,
ReplyDeleteShe only looks at pictures (which are bad)
But neglects the words (which wow).
A baby’s born, first blue, then red,
A sigh of relief. The years ahead.
An occasional test: knees together, thighs apart.
Numb gums. A lot of lint.
At night, the coaster on the piano no one plays.
She only looks at pictures now,
And they are bad.
Too bad she neglects the words,
Which wow.
